When Emily asked me to paint her face she also requested to wear a wig; Emily is naturally a brunette and I was so excited to tease my blonde wig and transform her. I wanted to create something whimsical and when I opened my @UrbanDecayCosmetics Electric palette I was instantly drawn to the two purple shades included, 'Jilted' and 'Urban.' The darker purple shadow, 'Urban,' has a satin finish and is a royal blue/purple color, 'JIlted' has more of a metallic finish and reflects pink and magenta. I began with the contours of the face, making the hollows of her cheeks a purple shade and blending towards the apple of the cheek with the magenta shade.
Next it was a matter of mixing together some of @PatMcGrathReal Gold Metamorphosis kit & some mixing medium (@mehronmakeup). mixed until a creamy opaque consistency and laid across the lids. Taking a much stiff brush and collecting gold flakes and applying it to the skin in chunks for texture and dimension. Highlighting Emily's chin and tip of the nose with the gold pigment.
Using the @AnastasiaBeverlyHills Lip Palette in shade 9 & primary 1-this created a shade similar to the magenta shadow used previously. This lip palette formula is so creamy and easy to blend. I love following @kelseyannaf on instagram, she inspired me to clend outside the lip lines. I'm no stranger to over-drawing lips but never blurred the edges like this before. It created such a fun and colorful new lip shape. Accented with PMcG's gold pigment.
My boyfriend is always asking his students not to step outside of their comfort zone, but to expand it. This look inspired me to expand my comfort zone and to never stop experimenting.
