HONEST REVIEW: ARBONNE MAKEUP

HONEST REVIEW: ARBONNE MAKEUP

If you haven’t heard of Arbonne, they are a network marketing company (aka they don’t pay for ads or models, they have consultants that spread the word by mouth). They are completey vegan, soy-free, gluten-free, and bans over 2,000 harmful ingredients from their makeup, skin care, and nutrition products.

If you’re interested in learning more about the company, drop a comment! But let’s get right to the review:

I’m going to share the few products that I disagree with (or that disagree with me)

  1. Liquid Eyeliner: I mentioned this product briefly on my Instagram page, but figured I could go more in-depth on here. The formula is streaky, and runny in my opinion and the bursh.applicator tip has to ‘give’ to it. it’s very stiff and does not form to the natural contours of the eye like most on the market. I also felt that the applicator was too large and short with along handle to create winged eyeliner, but maybe practice makes perfect after all.

  2. Bronzer: I love their powder formulas, I just wish the bronzer was matte. That’s my only qualm, I don’t enjoy shimmer-y bronzers.

  3. Bullet Lipstick: the tube itself is way too large for normal lip application, the formula is very creamy, almost to the point it’s sliding around on my lips. I will say it is extremely hydrating and maybe i should try a nude/flesh toned shade rather than the bright red i bought, but I’m on the fence about this one.

Now, let’s get to the stuff I L O V E

Foundation: WOW! First thing I noticed was how lightweight it felt on my skin, secondly the medium, matte coverage is perfect (in my opinion) for winter. It is not drying or cake-y looking, and can either be set nicely with powder or kept fresh. I was strictly wearing CC Creams for 1.5 years before trying foundation again. I am prone to hormonal and cystic acne, so it was better to stay away. My lovely dog destroyed my Arbonne CC cream and so foundation was my next choice, the packaging might be slightly more dog-proof.

‘Sunset’ Blush

‘Sunset’ Blush

Blush: Sunset & Apricot have become my go-to shades, I even wear blush when i don’t wear foundation. The blush range features matte and satin finishes & have the same lightweight feel.

Eyeshadows: can you say PIGMENTATION? I was a HUGE skeptic (mostly bc i consider myself a makeup snob lol) but was proven wrong quickly by their performance. They blend as beautifully as they look and I love to use a few as contour and highlight shades on the face.

Mascara: So, normally I stray away from silicone applicator, I love a good fluffy mascara brush— but I really enjoy their mascara. the wand makes it easy to separate my lashes and I usually wear 1-2 coats. I haven’t noticed ANY flaking and the mascara is extremely easy to take off (something I enjoy). It has conditioning properties so your lashes aren’t screaming every time you put it on and take it off.

Lipgloss: I wish they made a clear version of their gloss formula. It is so hydrating and calming. Not sticky at all, thanks to a botanical oil base. The pigmentation of these glosses are impressive but also subtle, I ohpe that makes sense. They’re the perfect “your lips but better” lip topper.

Setting Powder: this also has a satin finish- which I don’t mind overtop of the matte foundation. I also started using the powder as dry shampoo, instead of baby powder (links article about links to asbestos and talc). The powder stays in place all day and my face has yet to feel like i need to apply more throughout the day.

Cream Highlight/Bronzer stick: Sooooo this is probably my #1 makeup product for no-makeup-makeup days. The sheen is so natural looking and although i don’t need to use the bronzer side this time of years, i sometimes enjoy using it as a creamy, bronzy eyeshadow base- so pretty for a smokey look.

Tinted Brow Gel: OK LAST ONE I PROMISE! If you are looking for a VEGAN BOY BROW look now further. Glossier uses beeswax to make hairs appear fuller and to help them stay in place. This little guy from Arbonne does the same exact thing and no animal byproducts!!

Overall, I really love most of their products and plan to continue using them. I love that I can trust the ingredients and that they all (for the most part) behave how I expected. Feel free to leave any questions below!

Stay Colorful,

Samm
