10 Items or Less; Simplistic Summer Makeup
~ Hey, What's Up, Hello ~
When it comes to travel, my makeup bag is always the largest and heaviest of all my luggage. Recently, I went down to the Delaware beach area for the weekend- unplanned. So, I had a decision to make: take just the essentials or bring no makeup whatsoever. It was almost as if I was using the Express Checkout Lane in the grocery store- 10 items or less.
What's currently in my 'to-go' clutch:
Beauty Blending Sponge
Liquid or Cream Highlight
Liquid or Cream Blush
Lip Balm or Gloss
Tinted Brow Gel
False Lashes (Optional)
First, completely forget foundation, concealer, and powders, let your skin breathe!! After cleansing your face apply with something with SPF and a hydrating formula. For me, this is @Neutrogena's Visibly Even Moisturizer (SPF 30). Move on to your primer, I find the best primers are in spray form. Lately, I've been loving @MarioBadescu Rosewater & Herb Spray, it primes, sets, and refreshes the face (it smells amazing too).
Liquid illuminators, blushes, and bronzers are your best friends! They are lightweight, easy to blend, and have buildable coverage. If you haven't noticed yet, I did NOT bring any makeup brushes with me, only a beauty sponge.
I mentioned the @NYXCosmetics Born to Glow Liquid Illuminators in my last blog post, my favorite is 'Sunbeam.' I applied this to the high points of the face additionally layering @ColourpopCosmetics 'Smokin' Whistles' on top, which is in between being a powder and a cream and gives a beautiful glow to the skin.
I've been mixing @Glossier Cloud Paints 'Dusk' & 'Puff' and applying with a clean finger or blending sponge to the apples of the cheeks, blending out and towards the temples, to add dimension and color to the face.
To brighten up the eyes try adding white eyeliner to the waterline, to give the illusion that the eyes are slightly larger and appear more awake than what may be the truth. Additionally placing those previously mentioned highlighters to the brow bone, inner corner, and center of the lid. Finishing the eyes with a coat or two of your favorite mascara, mine is Lash Princess by @EssenceMakeup.
To complete the look comb through the brows and add shape with a tinted brow gel, my current obsession has been @LashFood's 'Dark Brunette' Gel Fix.
Keep the lips simple, bring a balm or gloss that's easy to reapply and won't leave your lips feeling and looking like sun-dried tomatoes. Personally, I enjoy defining the lips with @Nyxcosmetics 'Natural' Lip Liner and topping with a touch of @Glossier Clear Gloss
This makeup is all about loving and enhancing your natural beauty. Understandably, wearing makeup on vacation or to the beach is not for everyone, but if you choose to wear one product on your face this summer please make sure it's SPF!
